WAND: Rowan, Yeti hair, 9" (graciously imported from the Americas by Ollivander because it is not quite magical enough on its own to hurt him)

OCCUPATION: Groundskeeper

FAMILY:

• "Uncle", Argus Filch, Hogwarts Groundskeeper. Argus raised him because he was the only person in the whole school who could not hurt him by using magic. Retired and living amongst the muggles. Halle visits him on holidays.

(His name is pronounced "Hal-eh". Or you can just call him "Hal".)

 History 

Short version:

Halle was found as a baby in Hogwarts Castle and no one would claim him. He passed from teacher to teacher and staff member to staff member, whereupon each adoptive parent had such a hard time taking care of him that they had to pass him off. Eventually they all came to the conclusion that they could not care for him because he was allergic (or something) to magic, and dumped him on Argus Filch, who'd found him in the first place.

As Filch took on this task, the great battle of Hogwarts happened and the castle was mostly destroyed. Filch then also took on the task of putting things right and rebuilding the school. He had a hard time juggling the two jobs.

Filch was a bit of an inattentive parent, but his inability to harm Halle, even accidentally, proved to be really beneficial. Mrs. Norris did most of the babysitting and reminding of Filch to feed the kid and, inevitably, Halle grew up. Once the boy was old enough, Filch drafted him to help with the reconstruction efforts. Halle, happy for the attention, set to the task like a fiend. Because of this, he knows the school inside and out, upside down and backwards, although the farthest he has ever been from the castle is the shrieking shack. (he has been to Hogsmeade and London now.)

He would often get distracted by relics, paintings and books related to magic, which fed his curiousity concerning the topic. The more wizards he met (usually the construction workers hired by Filch) the more he wanted to be able to do magic as well. But the more magic he encountered, the more obvious it was that his allergy was not going away.

He had a lot of bad run-ins with magic, the worst of which being his encounter with Peeves and the subsequent healing spell, but none of it dampened his love of magic.

Soon the castle was completely rebuilt and ready for occupation by students again. As teachers were being hired and the school got ready for its grand re-opening, Filch cut Halle a deal: He could choose to attend the school, but he would spend his spare time (holidays and weekends) helping to take care of the building and its grounds, in essence becoming assistant janitor/groundskeeper. Halle unflinchingly took the deal.

UPDATED:

During the recent attack on Hogwarts, Halle was put under the Imperius Curse and used to cast some very advanced magic, including the Crutiatus Curse. The strain caused him to have a stroke that left him paralyzed on his right side and weakened his eyesight (which was probably already not that great because of his albinism). He spent his whole summer in therapy and regained most of the use of his leg, but is still working on his arm. There's not much he can do about the right side of his face, so instead of wearing a weird eyepatch he's got glasses with a blacked out lens. He WILL stoop to scaring people with his freaky unblinking eye if he needs to.

The stroke caused some brain damage that is a bit frustrating, impeding Halle's ability to speak clearly and completely destroying any mathematical or analytical skills that he might have had. His memory for new things is really bad, so he will probably forget names frequently and wonder about who all these new kids are. His handwriting was already pretty bad, but it's exponentially worse now that he has to use his left hand and have every letter dictated to him when writing anything. His reading level is back down to where it was when he was 7.

Despite this, Halle refuses to leave Hogwarts. He has lived there his whole life and has never felt comfortable anywhere else. Everything he loves is within the school grounds and he feels that even if his life will be shorter for living so close to magic, it will be better than living forever and not being near the things that he loves. Of course, his allergy can no longer be kept secret.

 Personality 

• Despite being raised by one of the crabbiest men alive, Halle has a generally upbeat and happy attitude towards everything. He will gladly tackle any challenge at least once, though experience will sometimes teach him to never do something again. He is still generally optimistic, seeing his new situation as a sort of fresh start where he might be able to succeed at something completely different.
• He has never had friends his own age and desperately wants to be liked, so he tries very hard to blend in and sometimes lies about himself in order to avoid being seen as "weird", even though he really sucks at lying. He doesn't really lie anymore. His biggest secret is out in the open now so there's no reason to.
• Halle isn't very aware of his appearance, as Filch never bothered to talk about how others see him. That's why his hair is such a long mess and he doesn't quite realize that it being white makes him different. Still mostly true.
• Because of his upbringing as part of the unseen staff at Hogwarts, Halle can easily make himself blend into the background, and often will sink out of sight when uncomfortable or scared. He is also prone to believe in some very stupid things, and can be prejudiced against things that he actually has no problem with. For example; Halle is friends with many of the House Elves of Hogwarts, but could never bring himself to believe that their "enslavement" is a bad thing. He's not necessarily stupid, he just finds it hard to see things from opposite points of view. Halle is even more unreasonable now, finding new ideas hard to wrap his mind around and often forgetting new ideas that are presented to him. He's not very good at blending into the background anymore.
• Also because of his upbringing, Halle is not used to human contact, such as hugs, snuggling, or hand holding. He has seen these things happen and tries to implement his observations, but he really doesn't know when it is appropriate to do so. He also reacts strangely to being the recipient of this kind of contact, usually by freezing in shock until he remembers to reciprocate. Halle now really dislikes being touched. It reminds him of Lola and of how pathetic he must seem now. 
• Halle is really terrified of being labeled a "squib", not because he'll be made fun of, but because he's afraid that he'll end up being bitter, unliked and alone, like Filch. Filch, despite having a child to raise, never fully recovered from his many years of hermit-ish-ness and sometimes, once Halle was more independent, would forget about the kid entirely for days at a time. Halle is fine with being a squib now. He still tries to be independent.
• He gets to be kindof a compulsive idiot with too much adrenaline (as seen in PE class) Still true.

 Other 

PETS: Jelly, a dark grey kitten with black stripes, great-grand-niece of Mrs. Norris. Jelly decided he was boring and has become one of the many feral cats that keeps the castle clean of rodents.

TALENTS: Very good at drawing maps, but not much else. He can more or less copy things out of books for making flashcards but isn't creative enough to draw from his memory. He can't draw anymore.  

He cleans things like a total champ but he's not very organized. Even more disorganized now.

WEIRDNESS: Halle is "allergic" to magic. For some reason, Halle's allergy to magic makes it so that any magic around him is amplified. Spells are stronger, magical objects and potions work better, and curses are a little worse than usual. Unfortunately the amplification does not work for Halle. Instead, if there is magic around him, he feels dizzy and weak. If magic is cast on him or a lot is in his proximity he feels nauseous, and could even black out. When Halle casts magic (which happens very rarely) it gives him a nosebleed (at least). Halle has not cast any very powerful spells yet so it is not known how these will affect him. Despite all this, Halle loves magic, especially the theory of it, and has memorized many spells, even though he cannot cast any of them. Too much magic will probably kill him if something like the Imperio ever happens to him again. He still loves magic but has given up on the hope of ever being able to do any again. He wants to continue his studies of muggle magic but finds it difficult to do sleight of hand when one of his hands doesn't work.

PATRONUS: An albino red squirrel.

 Relationships 

• Lola Peach, the first friend I made at Hogwarts, or ever. After months of pining I told her that I love her and we were... I guess... dating (even though she had a pretty cool boyfriend back home)? But she seems to be bored with me now and has moved on... Not really sure what to do about it. She knows about my allergy after I STUPIDLY got in the middle of a duel between her and Etoile. I still love her but I'm not really sure why. There's no way she'll like me now, I think I have to move on...
• Fiona Grayson, who sat next to me in several classes before we got up the nerve to actually introduce ourselves. One of my best friends and fellow member of the Nerd Squad. :) She helps me whenever I need someone to do magic for me, and tutors me whenever I try to do anything magical myself. The first of my friends to find out about my magic allergy. We study together a lot, and that makes the time fly by. She's kindof a worrywart and keeps me out of trouble (most of the time, if I listen to her)
• Miho Ookami, another member of the Nerd Squad. She's a werewolf, which I found very hard to accept at first but I've learned to just not think about that part of her because the rest of her just so awesome. She also knows about my allergy. Miho is really observant, and because of that she knows how I feel about Lola, but she's very good at keeping secrets and is in the same boat herself. She's more adventurous and quicker to anger than Fiona, which makes her kindof scary (to others, ha ha) But she's still a person and she's still a girl and sometimes she gets really girly and weird. I dunno. I feel awful because I'm never able to be there for her when she needs it...
• Matteo Spikes, who is very friendly and seems to see me as a close friend, as he is quick to defend me over any little thing. Very nice guy overall. I haven't seen him around for a while though.
• Norman Kimberly... I used to hate him but now I feel kinda sorry for him. We still don't get along at ALL and I'll probably go batshit if he calls any of my friends whores again... But still. I think he's putting on a brave face for some reason
• Etoile Lee, a Slytherin and my former mortal enemy. I'm not sure why we didn't get along at first, but ever since he found out about my allergy, he's backed off on teasing me... maybe he's afraid I'll explode or something? I don't know though, I kindof miss the adversity. Just a little.
• Elene Nicolo, a Hufflepuff from Greece. We worked together in Potions and she's very nice and understanding, especially when I messed up our assignment. We work well together but I never manage to talk to her outside of class.
• August Daily, one of my roommates and a pretty cool guy. He falls for my muggle magic tricks every time, so I don't know if I'm getting any better or if he's just really guillable. He likes Lola, too, but has promised to back off... so far he's kept his promise and I really respect him for that. I'm going to miss sleeping in the bunk under him.
• Michael Landger, I've met him? Oh gosh... I was so asleep. I hope I didn't say anything stupid... (forum RP)
• Delphine Cadbury, somehow I made friends with her, and she got me drunk... I've overseen her detentions a few times, but I feel awful being mean about it at all since she's so HAPPY. 
• TEACHERS GO HERE SOON 
• Peeves the Poltergeist. I HATE HIM. I'M GLAD HE'S GONE. IF I NEVER SEE HIM AGAIN IT WILL BE ENTIRELY TOO SOON.

 Magic that Halle has successfully performed (with "successfully" being a relative term) 

WINGARDIUM LEVIOSA: Performed under Fiona's supervision on a feather which proceeded to burst into flames. Repeated the spell very briefly to show Norman he's not a Squib.

EXPECTO PATRONUM: Successfully conjured his patronus, but was sick for a whole week afterwards. Also managed to cast a good patronus to protect Lola from a Boggart in the forest, and in class a second time.

RIDDICULUS: Done in Care of Magical Creatures class to expel a Boggart in the shape of Peeves. He was on Vicodin at the time so it didn't hurt as much as it usually would have.

INCARCEROUS: After a werewolf attack on the school, Halle felt pretty useless and decided he needed to learn at least one helpful spell. This is it. He's not sure if he'll get the same result the second time he tries it.
